It drops, it does not stop
The south-west monsoon runs June to August and it is the weakest stretch of the Kerala solar year. For a 3 kW system, output falls to roughly 190–245 units a month, against 390–440 units a month from February to April. October and November dip again with the north-east monsoon.
The annual figure already accounts for it
When we say a Kerala roof produces about 1,400 units per kilowatt per year, that average already includes the wet months. It is not a dry-season number with the monsoon quietly left out.
Net metering is what carries you across
Credit banked during the strong months offsets what you draw during the weak ones. This is precisely the problem net metering exists to solve, and it is why the annual position matters more than any single month.
What monsoon does to a badly built system
Rain finds bad workmanship. Penetrations that were not sealed properly leak, tiles that were cracked during mounting show up, and mounting that was not rated for wind load moves. None of this is a monsoon problem; it is an installation problem that the monsoon reveals.
A practical note
Heavy rain rinses loose dust off the glass, which helps. It does not remove salt film or bird droppings, and on low-tilt arrays it tends to leave streaking. Expect to clean after the monsoon, not to be spared it.
