What’s covered, and what isn’t
After-sales is the biggest single objection in Indian solar, and usually for good reason. So here it is in plain terms.
The three separate warranties
Module performance warranty: 25 years. The manufacturer guarantees the panel will still produce a defined percentage of its rated output after a given number of years. This is about output, not physical failure.
Module product warranty: TODO: years. This covers physical defects in the panel itself.
Inverter warranty: manufacturer term, extendable to TODO: years. Inverters are the component most likely to need replacing inside the system’s life, so the extension is usually worth it.
Our workmanship warranty: TODO: years. This is ours, not the manufacturer’s. It covers mounting, waterproofing, cabling and earthing. If our installation causes a roof leak, we fix it at no cost.
What isn’t covered
Being straight about this now avoids an argument later.
- Pre-existing roof problems unrelated to our installation. We’ll tell you what we found and quote the repair, since roofing is work we do.
- Damage from events outside normal use: lightning strike, storm damage beyond design wind loading, or physical impact.
- Loss of output from soiling, if scheduled cleaning has been skipped.
- Work done on the system by somebody else after we handed it over.
Annual maintenance contracts
An AMC covers scheduled cleaning, electrical safety checks, inverter servicing, string-level performance testing and priority attendance when something goes wrong.
Every installation includes TODO: number complimentary cleaning visits in the first year. After that, an AMC is optional. Monitoring runs for the life of the system either way, so we’ll still see a fault whether or not you’re on a contract.
We also take on AMCs for systems we didn’t install. That starts with a full audit, which is covered on our Solar Upgrades page.
Already have a system nobody services?
We take those on. It starts with an audit, and if the system turns out to be fine, we’ll tell you that.
