Changes the sizing
On a villa roof
More roof does not automatically mean more system
Villas usually land between 4 kW and 6 kW, because the load is driven by multiple air conditioners and often an electric vehicle. A 5 kW system generates about 7,000 units a year and suits a bill of roughly ₹3,800 to ₹4,800 a month. The subsidy, though, is capped at ₹78,000 from 3 kW upwards: so the capacity above 3 kW carries no extra subsidy.

A villa is also the case where roof area usually stops being the constraint and the connection type starts to be. From around 6 kW a three-phase connection is generally needed.
What to know
Three things that change with size
Subsidy is capped at ₹78,000
From 3 kW upwards. A 6 kW villa system receives the same subsidy as a 3 kW one.
EV charging changes the sizing
Charging from the roof in daylight is the single biggest lever on the value of a large system. Mention it at survey.
Three-phase from around 6 kW
Worth establishing your connection type before design rather than during it.

Questions
Villas, answered
Often, but it depends on air-conditioning load and whether there is an EV. A survey reads twelve months of bills and measures usable roof before recommending.
No. PM Surya Ghar caps at ₹78,000 for residential systems of 3 kW and above, so a 6 kW system receives the same as a 3 kW one.
Generally from around 6 kW upwards. Many villas already have three-phase; if not, the conversion needs establishing before design.
